Winter in Park City has a way of pulling you in. The quiet after fresh snowfall, the energy on Main Street during the holidays, and the warm glow from restaurants and fireplaces. Even after all these years, it still feels special to us. If you’re heading here this season, here’s a guide to the spots we truly love as locals—this isn’t the generic list you see everywhere.

These are the spots we take friends and family, the things we do on our own weekends, and the tiny “if you know, you know” recommendations that make a winter trip unforgettable. And if you’re near our office, stop by Park City Wealth Advisors for coffee—we love seeing familiar faces and meeting new ones. Here’s how to enjoy Park City like a local.

Where To Stay

When people ask where to stay in Park City, I always give a range of options, from luxury to boutique to “you’ll feel like a local in two minutes.”

  • Stein Eriksen Lodge: If you want quintessential alpine charm, this is it. Fireplaces everywhere and service that honestly spoils you.
  • Grand Hyatt Deer Valley: A perfect mix of refined and family-friendly. Easy access to the slopes, a heated outdoor pool, and next to the 80 new ski runs that Deer Valley just opened for the 2025-2026 season!
  • Washington School House Hotel: A tiny boutique hotel right off Main Street. There are only 12 rooms, with each one beautifully done. It feels like staying in someone’s impeccably designed mountain home.
  • Pendry Park City (Canyons Village): More modern energy, great dining, and a rooftop pool that somehow stays fun even in the dead of winter.

What To Do

Well, besides skiing (obviously), there’s a whole world of ways to enjoy the town. We like to say that if winter in Park City had a heartbeat, it would be the slopes.

  • Deer Valley: Enjoy perfectly groomed runs and a more luxe skier-only experience.
  • Park City Mountain: Explore a massive amount of terrain. It’s especially great for families and mixed-ability groups.
  • Stroll Historic Main Street: Main Street in winter is charming in a way you can’t quite explain. Just walk it, and you’ll get it. Think of shops, galleries, coffee, chocolate, and the kind of people who look like they stepped out of a Sundance catalog.
  • Horse-Drawn Sleigh Rides: It’s touristy, sure, but also genuinely magical. Go with Snowed Inn Sleigh Co. or the Canyons Village option. Picture this: Blankets, starlight, quiet snow—it’s worth it at least once.
  • Utah Olympic Park: Where else can you bobsled on an actual Olympic track? It’s adrenaline, history, and “only in Utah” all in one place.
  • Snowshoeing, Nordic Skiing & Winter Hiking: White Pine Touring and Round Valley have some of the most peaceful terrain. Great for slower mornings or active recovery days.

Where To Eat

A mix of upscale, local favorites, and new gems we love. First, here are some brunch and casual favorites:

  • Montage Brunch: Worth the trip all on its own.
  • Sammy’s Bistro: The kind of local spot where everything is consistently good.
  • Harvest in Midway: Brand new, thoughtfully done, and worth the drive.
  • The Blue Boar Inn: Charming, European, and perfect for slow, cozy meals.
  • Ballerina Farms & The Dainty Pear: Local creators, beautiful Utah roots, and a fun detour if you love food and storytelling.

Next, consider these Park City classics:

  • Riverhorse on Main: For a special night out. Beautiful, refined, and reliably exceptional.
  • Handle: Inventive, fun, and a local go-to. (Order the buffalo cauliflower.)
  • Chimayo: Cozy Southwestern dishes that hit the spot on cold nights. (The short rib is my personal favorite!)
  • High West Distillery & Saloon: Ski-in whiskey and comfort food. A bucket-list Park City experience. (Try the chicken schnitzel.)
  • Five5eeds: Our favorite brunch spot in town. Bright, fresh, and consistently good.
  • Fireside Dining (Deer Valley): Raclette melting by the fireplace. The definition of winter comfort.

Our Local Secrets

These are the things we do as locals—not the things that show up on travel blogs. (Shh… don’t tell too many people!)

  • Hike up Daly’s to the Lady Morgan chairlift for an after-hours aprés picnic: Yes, you read that right. Pack a small picnic, hike at dusk, and watch the lights come on across the mountain. It’s unreal.
  • The foot massages at Massage Oasis in Park City: After skiing, nothing feels better. Every local knows this spot.
  • A day pass to Hotel Park City: Hot tubs, spa, quiet corners to warm up. Perfect for a non-ski day.
  • Hot yoga in Kimball Junction: Walk from your Airbnb, stretch everything out, then wander over to Hill’s Kitchen for a pastry. It’s a whole cozy routine.

And the best-kept secret in all of Park City:

  • The meatball sandwich at the Kimball Junction butcher shop. It is outrageously good. Juicy, messy, perfect—bring a friend and thank me later.
